Influence of preliminary pulp treatment with air on coal slurry flotation

Journal Article · · Coke Chem., USSR (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5548675
Treatment with air before the reagents are added has a favorable influence on the flotation of coal slurries with high contents of fines (<0.074 mm). Preliminary pulp aeration intensifies the flotation of polydisperse slurries and the greatest effect is obtained at reduced reagent consumptions. After preliminary aeration to pulp conditioning period with nonpolar reagent is shortened 3- to 4-fold. Commercial trials have been carried out at the Zaporozhye Works cleaning plant.
