Nine utilities offering cash, credit rebates for retrofits

Businesses can obtain cash or credit rebates from at least nine utilities if they install energy-conservation equipment and, in some instances, thermal-storage retrofits. The rebate programs do not extend to residential users, who already have incentives. Utilities anticipate less need for new generating facilities if they can foster efficiency in the commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors. A chart summarizes and compares the rebate programs now available in eligibility requirements, equipment covered, and rebate rates and conditions. (DCK)
