Effects of single and divided doses of x radiation to corneal epithleium of laboratory mice and bank voles. [Correlation between corneal epithelial cell and systemic radiosensitivity]

There is considerably less cytogenetic damage and inhibition of mitotic activity of corneal epithelial cells in bank voles (common redbacked voles) than in C57B1 mice following delivery of single (350 and 700 R) or divided (350 + 350 R at a 24-h interval) doses of x radiation, which is consistent with the general radiosensitivity of these animals. The effect of divided doses is present only when the vole's corneal epithelium is irradiated.
