The recoil energy spectrum for /sup 36/Cl produced in the (n,..gamma..) nuclear reaction is calculated from prompt ..gamma..-ray spectroscopy data of Spits and Kopecky. The average energy for the recoil /sup 36/Cl atoms is found to be 634 eV, whereas the most probable energy is 720 eV if the maximum recoil energy of 1099 eV is excluded. Comparison is made with the corresponding spectrum for the lower energy, recoil /sup 38/Cl atoms also generated by thermal neutron capture.
