Joint Conference on Applications of Air Pollution Meteorology, 2nd

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5505681
Among the topics discussed are such special sources of air pollution as highways and forest fires, photochemical models of ozone concentrations, plume-city interactions and the future sensitivity of NO/sub 2/ to hydrocarbon and NO(X) controls, plume rise studies and field experiments, long-range transport and transformation of sulfur pollution, with emphasis on sulfur dioxide, and such issues in visibility and acid precipitation as fog formation and the in-cloud conversion of SO/sub 2/ to SO/sub 4/. Attention is also given to the mathematical representation of types of air pollution with emphasis on plume dispersion, the effects on dispersion of complex terrain, drainage winds and mountains, the validation of short-term models, regulatory issues, the optimization of applications and the estimation of boundary conditions, and the work of industrial meteorologists.
