Antiproton-deuteron interaction near threshold

The p-bard interaction near the elastic threshold is described for large N-barN annihilation cross sections. A set of Faddeev equations is constructed for the p-bard interaction amplitude and the solution is used to find the total and elastic p-bard-scattering cross sections at threshold and to calculate the missing-mass spectrum in p-bard annihilation. The accuracy of the impulse approximation for calculating the missing-mass spectrum and the contribution to it from ..pi..-meson rescattering on the spectator nucleon are determined. Resonances lying below the elastic p-bard threshold are predicted in the 2NN-bar system.
