Progress in solar energy technologies and applications: An authoritative review

Book ·
OSTI ID:5460546
This is the third of a series of American Solar Energy Society (ASES) white papers on the progress and promise of solar energy technologies. The first white paper, published in 1989, provided an assessment of solar technologies as of January, 1989. The second white paper, published in 1992, presented cost information on solar energy and provided a basis for comparing conventional and renewable energy economics. This third paper provides a comprehensive treatment of the current technological and market status of solar energy, with a particular emphasis on the most significant advances since 1989. It identifies and addresses key technical and market issues, and provides a reference base for future technological and market assessments. The primary purpose of this paper is to assist public policymakers, federal and state government officials, utility and industry executives, potential investors, environmental leaders, educators, and others who can help shape a new energy future.
