Two Angus calves displaying signs of blindness, elevated temperature, green mucoid feces, and rapid, shallow breathing were diagnosed as having lead poisoning. Improvement following the use of CaEDTA confirmed this diagnosis. It was revealed that these calves had access to an old dump from which it was believed that they had licked leaded paint ashes from old boards. Of the common domestic livestock, the calf is the most susceptible to lead toxicity.
