Multiprocessing using the Z8108

Book ·
OSTI ID:5421191
One solution to the problem of interfacing different microprocessors in a multiprocessing environment is to consider each processor as an independent system, and to interface these mini-systems with some type of shared communication facility. In order to simplify the design of the system, the interface should be of an asynchronous nature. A multiprocessor system for distributed processing, using the principles described, can be constructed using zilog products. For example, a system employing a Z8108 8-bit Z80 bus MCU, and a Z8 8-bit Z-bus MCU, can be interfaced together using the Z8038 FIO. These components are described.
