Conference · · Energy Technol. (Wash., D.C.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5404988
The Savannah River Plant has been operated for the Department of Energy by E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company as a highly automated nuclear production facility since 1953. A Robotics Technology Group was organized at the Savannah River Laboratory in 1982 to enhance the existing automation and new robotic systems have been installed in plant processes, and other development work is under way for automation in fuel manufacturing, production reactor operations, process sampling operations, and laboratory analyses. This paper sampling operations, and laboratory analyses. This paper discusses site applications that employ industrial robots, mobile vehicles, and special automated systems. Development expert systems and artificial intelligence techniques, are also discussed.
