Microstructure of coke briquettes from hydrolysis lignin

The microstructure of pyrolyzed briquettes prepared from hydrolyzed lignins at different final heating temperatures has been investigated. The pore structure of the briquettes of hydrolysis lignins before the thermal treatment is dependent to a large extent upon the granulometric composition of the raw material. The initial structure of the lignins also played an important part on the effect of the final heating temperature on the structure of coke lignin. Attempts to quantitatively evaluate the process of the formation of a porous structure of the pyrobriquettes from hydrolysis lignins with a change in the final pyrolysis temperature indicated that there is a definite tendency toward an increase in overall porosity with an increase in the final heating temperature.
