The transmission of TM waves through thin plasma layers with parabolic electron density distribution is investigated under the assumption that the plasma resonance condition is satisfied near the plane for an isotropic layer or when the effect of an external magnetic field perpendicular to the x axis considered. It is shown that for a certain relationship between the effective collision frequency and the layer width, up to half of the incident wave energy is absorbed in the layer, while in a resonance layer - ideally reflecting screen system the energy may be totally absorbed.
