Dow Corning Corp., a silicone manufacturer in Midland, Michigan, is reverting to wood to fire a co-generation power plant. It will save 600,000 bbl of oil a year, cut energy costs by 25 to 35% over the present system, and reduce dependence on foreign oil. The power plant is scheduled to be completed by 1982 and will serve the plant's power needs through the 1990s.
