The ..delta..E--E technique is used to measure the spectra of the deuterons and ..cap alpha.. particles from the /sup 6/Li+/sup 59/Co reaction, and the two-particle correlation method is used to determine the cross sections for the reaction /sup 59/Co(/sup 6/Li, ..cap alpha..d) at 41 MeV. The contributions of the various fragmentation channels to the inclusive spectra are experimentally determined. The remaining nonequilibrium part is analyzed from the viewpoint of pre-equilibrium mechanism. The total ..cap alpha..-particle and deuteron yields are approx.400 and approx.120 mb, the fractions of equilibrium particles being approx.15 and approx.3%, respectively. The subsequent decay of /sup 6/Li via the 3/sup +/ (2.18 MeV) state yields approx.10% of the ..cap alpha..-particle yield and approx.40% of the deuteron yield. The combined contribution of the consecutive decay via the states 2/sup +/(4.3 MeV) and 1/sup +/(5.7 MeV) and of the direct disintegration of /sup 6/Li was less than 10% of the ..cap alpha..-particle yield and less than 25% of the deuteron yield. The coalescence model is used to calculate the pre-equilibrium component (approx.25% for ..cap alpha.. particles and approx.30% for deuterons). The sum of the contributions of the processes considered accounts for almost the total deuteron yields and can explain more than half the ..cap alpha..-particle yield.
