Production of hyperfragments in proton-nucleus interactions at 70 and 250 GeV

The production of hyperfragments in proton-nucleus interactions in emulsion has been investigated at energies 70 and 250 GeV. Eighteen mesonic decays of hyperfragments have been recorded at 70 GeV and 18 at 250 GeV. The frequency of observation of mesonic decays of hyperfragments with ranges R< or approx. =500 ..mu..m is (2.25 +- 0.68) x 10/sup -4/ per interaction at a proton energy 70 GeV and (1.83 +- 0.48) x 10/sup -4/ at a proton energy 250 GeV. As a result of a kinematical analysis, the following decays have been identified for the first time: /sup 12//sub ..lambda../C..--> pi../sup -/ /sup 12/N and /sup 11//sub ..lambda../B..--> pi../sup -/ /sup 11/C* (E*=4.31 or 4.79 MeV).
