An automated flotation complex incorporating high-output equipment has been developed and commissioned in the coal washery at the Zaporozhe Coke and Chemical Works. The automatic functions include reagent dispensing and regulation of the density and input of coarse slurry added to the flotation concentrate before vacuum filtration. Commercial trials and investigations in the automated flotation complex at Zaporozhe have shown that it is very effective and gives good performance. The flotation capacity has been greatly expanded and the quality of the flotation concentrate has improved. Its ash is 1.1% lower and that of the tailings 5 to 6% higher, which means increased yield since more coal substance is recovered. The labor requirements are smaller and the productivity of the flotation section is 40 to 50% higher. The automated flotation complex is saving over a million rubles/year. This system can be recommended as standard for flotation sections in all coal washeries.
