Twenty-eight witnesses from state and federal offices and the private sector discussed the possibility of meeting the costs of liability and compensation to those injured by hazardous materials with a superfund. The hearings were held on June 4, August 17, October 10 and 11, 1979 to discuss H.R. 4571, 4566, and 5290. Testimony addressed how to generate the superfund and how to protect the public from the hazards of waste sites. Letters and written statements from environmental and industrial groups follow the text of the bills and the discussion. (DCK)
