This paper investigates the cyclohexane dehydrogenation activity and the hydrogen adsorption properties of two-component, A1/sub 2/O/sub 3/-supported, palladium-cobalt and platinum-cobalt catalysts, prepared by procedures previously published. The dehydrogenating capabilities of the catalysts were investigated at atmospheric pressure at temperatures from 300-480 C in a microcatalytic unit operating in the pulse mode. The results from the activity tests on these catalysts in cyclohexane dehydrogenation are presented. The catalysts that are most active in dehydrogenation contain centers that are capable of chemisorbing both weakly bound and strongly bound atomic forms of hydrogen. For the catalysts that manifest lower activities in dehydrogenation, there are essentially no centers of weak chemisorption of hydrogen, and the surface of these catalysts is covered solely by strongly bound species of hydrogen.
