The hydrogen adsorption properties, the activity in cyclohexane dehydrogenation reaction, and the state of the metals in Ce, Pd, and Ce-Pd catalysts supported on Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/ are studied. It is shown that, unlike single-component catalysts containing both reduced and oxidized forms of the metals and chemisorbing hydrogen in strongly bound forms, the content and stability of the reduced forms of the metals increase in Cd-Pd/Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/ catalysts, which enhances the adsorption capacity of the catalysts on account of formation of weakly-bound forms of hydrogen and a substantial increase in the reactivity in cyclohexane dehydrogenation.
