Development of energy-related industries in the states of the southwest (Arizona, California, and New Mexico) poses tremendous problems for the region. Community planners in these states will be increasingly faced with problems once associated with more densely populated areas (e.g., degraded environmental quality and crime). This bibliography contains 47 of the most important published studies on the effects of energy development of a region's economy and natural resources. These can be found in most major research libraries.
