Honeywell, J. C. says DDC systems on way: amidst rival entries, lost bids

Honeywell, Inc. and Johnson Controls are developing direct-digital-control (DDC) products for energy-management systems (EMS), although both companies admit to losing bids to companies already offering DDC. By eliminating the need for intermediary pneumatic equipment, DDC responds faster, saves more energy, and maintains more-constant building temperatures. Lack of knowledge about the concept and the absence of a track record for comparison has made users reluctant, but the growing number of companies offering DDC equipment will open up the market.
