This paper reports that this study involved performance testing of the Teledyne Isotopes calcium sulfate dysprosium (CaSO{sub 4}:Dy) environmental thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD), and Model PB-2 badge case against specific portions of the American National Standards Institute N545-1975 (ANSI N545) standard for environmental TLD applications. Dosimeters were tested in seven categories of ANSI N545, ranging from reproducibility to self-irradiation. Dosimeters in the tests demonstrate the stable, accurate, and predictable behavior of CaSO{sub 4}:Dy for environmental radiation monitoring, as shown in the discussion for each test category. Specific observations are made on environmental shielding effects demonstrated in the moisture and self-irradiation tests.
