Two types of thermoluminescent dosemeters, CaSO/sub 4/: Dy and CaSO/sub 4/: Tm have been used in environmental monitorins for all nuclear establishments in northerm Taiwan since 1970. The laboratory procedures used to produce the calcium sulphate phosphors are outlined. The radioactivity originating from the powders were found to be 1.24 plus or minus 0.10 and- 1.66 plus or minus 0.08 mR/30 days for CaSO/sub 4/:Dy and CaSO/sub 4/: Tm respectively. (UK)
