There are at present several TLD materials being used in routine dosimetry measurements, each type having its own definite advantages and disadvantages. The one drawback originally with CaSO/sub 4/: Mn was its fast fading characteristics; this has now been remedied by a newer improved type called CaSO/sub 4/: Dy. The fading pattern of this material is very similar to LiF. Several evaluation were carried out to determine if CaSO/sub 4/: Dy could be used in dayto-day dosimetry measurements and in particular for measuring low doses. It was found that with the replacing of manganese vith dysprosium, CaSO/ sub 4/: Dy can be of great use in making accurate dosimetry measurements, especially in diagnostic and health physics. (UK)
