This paper is a defense to a previous paper by the same author (Hunt, 1990). A rebuttal by Toth et al. (1991) argued with the author concerning his conceptual model of petroleum movement and the formation of geopressured reservoirs. Toth et al. (1991) argued against the use of impervious boundaries to maintain pressure in the petroleum compartments. They inturn emphasized the use of hydraulically continuous fluid-flow model across rock boundaries. This paper analyzes and discounts the use of a continuous, gravity-flow field in the deeper sedimentary basins and gives examples of recognized geopressured reservoirs which fit the author's original model.
