US nuclear policies were the subject of oversight hearings held on July 12 and September 11, 1979. Six witnesses represented the nuclear industry and the State of Pennsylvania in a discussion of economic viability and the role of private industry in light of events at Three Mile Island. Two panels presented their views on nuclear power plant financing, the relative costs of nuclear versus coal plants, liability insurance schemes, and utility planning. Additional material was submitted by research groups, utilities, and other interested persons. (DCK)
