Gas utilities passing along pipeline companies' price decreases

Journal Article · · Energy User News; (United States)
OSTI ID:5167607
Gas utilities, in order to stay competitive at a time of slipping demand, are cutting user prices in response to lower price negotiations with suppliers. The continued recession and falling oil prices are responsible for efforts to change long-term gas contracts. Mexican and Canadian producers are also responding to the changing market by lowering prices under a ''force majeur'' justification. Examples of retail responses on several locations show that the trend is widespread. (DCK)
