Missouri gas prices to exceed resid due to imports

Journal Article · · Energy User News; (United States)

A 17% rate increase due to high-priced Canadian gas now makes it 20% more expensive to use gas than residual fuel oil for Missouri's Laclede Gas Co. customers. Laclede's suppliers will also be passing on the costs of Algerian liquefied natural gas by October. Customer response has led to some fuel switching. The current price of $4.85 per thousand cubic feet (mcf) will rise to over $6 per mcf. Similar price increases will affect other utilities around the country. (DCK)
