Angular distribution coefficients for (. gamma. , X) reactions with linearly polarized photons

The formalism for a linearly polarized {gamma}-ray capture particle-out reaction is presented. The form given allows one to generate the expressions for the cross section as a function of the detected particle angle, {theta}, in terms of the reduced transition matrix elements. Tables, which allow the reader to construct these expressions, are presented for target spins and parities of O{sup +}, 1/2{sup +}, 1{sup +}, and 3/2{sup +}; outgoing particle spins and parities of O{sup +}, 1/2{sup +}, and 1{sup +}; residual nuclei spins and parities of O{sup +}, 1/2{sup {plus minus}}, 1{sup +}, and 3/2{sup {plus minus}}; and multipolarities E1, M1, and E2. The tables are also labeled with equivalent J{sup {pi}} combinations obtained by reversing the parities of any two of the three particles, which lead to the same expression for the cross section.
