MEASUREMENT OF THE ANGULAR CORRELATION OF THE 208 kev/113 kev $gamma$- $gamma$ CASCADE OF Hf$sup 177$ IN SOLID AND LIQUID SOURCES (in German)

Measurement of the angular correlation of the 208 kev/113 kev gamma -- gamma cascade shows a dependence of the anisotropy on the characteristics of the sources. For W( theta ) = SIGMA A/sup 2k/ P/sub 2k/ (cos theta ) in a water solution of LuClsub 3/ as source the coefficients A/sub o/ = 1.0000 plus or minus 0.0017, A//sub 2/ =--0.1627 plus or minus 0.0032,= and A/sub 4/ = 0.0024 plus or minus 0.0042 were obtained. For the 113 kev radiation a mixture of 95.9% E2 and 4.1% M1 appeared, and for the 208 kev transition an E1 radiation with an M2 mixture of 1.5% maximum appeared. Finally, from the measured diminished angular correlation the electric field gradients responsible for the diminishing were estimated. (tr-auth)
