This paper shows the performance of the polarized proton and antiproton beam at Fermilab during the beamline's first period of operation by the E581/704 collaboration.{sup 1} The beamline uses a correlation between the trajectory of secondary protons (antiprotons) created by lambda (antilambda) decays and their polarization to tag the polarization of individual beam particles. Three topics are covered: the kinematics of the lambda decay that produces polarized protons, the system used to tag the protons, and the actual rates of polarized proton and antiproton production.
