This paper reviews a proprietary field automation control system developed by GPM Gas Corp., which accurately monitors field operations while providing producers with up-to-the-minute production information. The system includes SCADA computers, electronic flow metering, and radio telemetry. Electronic flow meters transmit collected data to a control computer via three radio elementary towers in GPM's 10,000 square mile southeastern New Mexico region. The paper goes on to describe the development of this system, its reliability, accuracy, and cost benefits of the system.
