Title: Slurry phase Fischer-Tropsch synthesis: Cobalt plus a water-gas shift catalyst, July 1, 1989--September 30, 1989

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/5062780· OSTI ID:5062780

The product distributions of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis on a cobalt catalyst were studied in a continuous-flow, well-stirred slurry reactor at 220 to 240{degree}C and 0.5 to 1.5 MPa. Synthesis gas with H{sub 2}/CO ratios between 1.5 and 3.5 was fed to the reactor over a wide range of space velocities yielding conversions of H{sub 2} between 6 and 68% and conversions of CO between 11 and 73%. The hydrocarbon products from a cobalt catalyst, a fused iron catalyst, and a potassium- and copper-promoted, precipitated iron catalyst were compared. Although differences exist in the C{sub 1}-C{sub 6} fraction, the C{sub 10}{sub +} fraction is somewhat similar for these catalysts. 30 refs., 13 figs.
