Ekofisk boasts record gas injection project

An estimated $1.8 billion will be required to fully develop the Ekofisk area production potential to an estimated 930,000 bpd of liquids, and more than 1 billion cu ft of gas. One key to development will be injection of gas into the producing zone to assist oil production and to store gas for future use. Dresser Industries Inc. has been awarded the project management contract dealing with the largest compression facilities production system yet conceived. Six turbine-driven centrifugal compressors will boost gas to 9,200 psi for injection. The system will handle some 450 Mmcfd at 9,200 psi. Installation of the packages is scheduled for this summer, 1973, at the Ekofisk site.
