X-ray-diffraction studies of Dy sub 1. 1 Ba sub 1. 9 Cu sub 3 O sub 7 minus. delta. (001) and Dy sub 1. 3 Ba sub 1. 7 Cu sub 3 O sub y (001)

Single-phase Dy{sub 1+{ital x}}Ba{sub 2{minus}{ital x}}Cu{sub 3}O{sub {ital y}}(001) thin films on LaAlO{sub 3}(100) substrates were prepared by molecular-beam deposition and post annealing and they were studied by x-ray-diffraction (XRD) and resistivity measurements. The values of lattice constant {ital c}{sub 0} were determined after correcting for sample displacement errors in the XRD measurements. For an epitaxial Dy{sub 1+{ital x}}Ba{sub 2{minus}{ital x}}Cu{sub 3}O{sub {ital y}}(001) film, which showed the onset of superconductivity at 53 K, the lattice constant {ital c}{sub 0} was determined as 11.592{plus minus}0.018 A. Similar superconducting behavior and same lattice parameter {ital c}{sub 0} have been observed for bulk Eu{sub 1.3}Ba{sub 1.7}Cu{sub 3}O{sub {ital y}} by Iwata {ital et} {ital al}. (Jpn. J. Appl. Phys. 26, L2049 (1987)). Bulk Dy{sub 1}Ba{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 7{minus}{delta}} and Eu{sub 1}Ba{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 7{minus}{delta}} have almost the same lattice parameters.
