Pulse polarography in nonaqueous media application to the determination of trace elements in plutonium (in French)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4935185
The usefulness of pulse polarography for the chemical analysis of plutonium in nonaqueous media is discussed. In the first part of the text, the processes enabling plutonium solutions to be obtained in aprotic solvents having high dielectric constants are described, and a brief review is given of the behavior on a mercury drop electrode and a platinum electrode of plutonium solutions in DMF and DMSO. Indications are given on the possibility of carrying out determinations of trace elements in these solutions. In the second part of the text, a method is proposed for the determination of 15 trace elements in a plutonium matrix. The determination methods are based on solvent extraction and a subsequent direct polarographic examination of the extraction solvents. (auth)
