The development and application of chemical approaches to raise the sensitivity of the polarographic method and to determine inorganic ions in complex mixtures are reviewed. Techniques used to determine elements in the most important materials are summarized. Specific topics included in this review are polarography in nonaqueous solvents and extraction-polarographic methods of analysis; indirect methods for determination of polarographically inactive elements; new base electrolytes in polarography; and film polarography.
