Nuclear constants in the pharmacopoeias: their use for the normalization of radiopharmaceutical substances (in French)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4934093
From symposium on applications of nuclear data in science and technology; Paris, France (12 Mar 1973. Variations in nuclear constants of radionuclides used frequently in medical diagnosis and therapy published in the literature on radiopharmaceuticals and nuclear data of various countries are pointed out. Difficulties encountered in determining the physiochemical properties of radiopharmaceuticals and in estimating the radiation dose to tissues following radionuclide administration are discussed. Comparative data from various sources on the half-life and energy of the characteristic gamma photon are presented for /sup 51/Cr, /sup 57/Co, /sup 58/Co, /sup 59/Fe, /sup 125/ I, /sup 131/ I, /sup 32/P, and on the mode of decay and abundance of internal conversion electrons for /sup 197/Hg and /sup 75/Se. Data are also included on the radioactivity in a number of radiopharmaceuticals produced in several countries. (CH)
