Importance and role of nuclear constants in activation analysis using charged particles or gamma photons (in French)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4935134
From symposium on applicattons of nuclear data in science and technology; Paris, France (12 Mar 1973). The principle and the area of application of activation analysis with charged particles and photons are reviewed briefly. The calibration methods in which nuclear constants intervene are described. The influence of competttive nuclear reactions in causing analytical errors is discussed. The importance of the knowledge of the thresholds and of the excitation functions of the thresholds and of reactions by which the analysis is done is deduced. The interest of the compilations of certain nuclear constants, notably the definttion of optimum irradiation conditlons. is shows. Compilations designed directly for these techniques and which permtt a knowledge of the exact possibilities of the method are justified. (tr-auth)
