A pressure door is described which is particularly suitable for use as an emergency escape lock for a reactor containment vessel. In the event of a nuclear accident or incident within the reactor, personnel can get out of the reactor in a short time, e.g., 15 to 20 sec, and the door is capable of resisting overpressures of 30 to 40 psi.
