A reactor core is described whose fuel elements are arranged in a number of groups, each of which is disposed wlthin an individual jacket. The jackets are in communication with adjacent jackets and are provided with interior tubes for supplementary fuel elements or control means. The advantages of such a reactor core are that the vessel can be constructed from several pipes and that the reactiv ity of the fuel element groups can be controlled individually. (D.L.C.)
