The dynamics of the contents of copper, manganese, and zinc in the brain, liver, kidneys, spleen, sex glands, muscles, and bones of guinea pigs irradiated with lethal doses of x rays were studied. The microelement content in the tissues and organs changed within four hours after irradiation. In the muscle tissue and sex glands the alterations in copper, manganese, and zinc metabolism occur in the same direction and are distinguished by a decrease in the content s irradiation induced an increase in the copper and zinc content. Changes in the content of copper, manganese, and zinc in the liver, brain, kidneys, spleen, and lungs in the acute form of radiation sickness are distinguished by individual features for each microelement, differing in the time of the appearance, direction, and degree of the change.
