IRRADIATION "FACTOR-DEPENDENCY." SOME VINYL MONOMERS: DEGASSING AND IRRADIATION CYCLE. Radiation Chemistry Laboratory Series Research Report No. 6

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4836864

The effects of degassing and the irradiation cycle were studied in the radioinduced polymerizatlon of acrylonitrile, butyl acrylate, styrene, vinyl acetate, acrylonitrilestyrene mixtures, butyl acrylate -- styrene mixtures, and vinyl acetate-styrene mixtures at 25 and 75 deg C. The results showed that: something more than a three-minute cycle is required for an optimal polymer yield at a given dose rate and level; the effects of degassing are more dependent on the monomer system than is the irradiation cycle effect; and the relative composite effects decrease, in general, with an increase in the dose rate and total dose.
