A reactor fuel element arrangement of the type described in British Patent 791,011 for gas-cooled reactors is designed with means for restricting coolant flow. The arrangement comprises a plurality of fuel elements housed within a support sleeve which has annular radial projections to restrict the coolant flow in the annular space between the sleeve and the channel wall. The elements are supported within the sleeve by a support beam described in British Patent 879,903. (D.L.C.)
