$lambda$$sup 0$ MAGNETIC MOMENT IN THE GOLDHABER MODEL

A value of --1.5 plus or minus 0.6 was reported for the magnetic moment of the LAMBDA /sup O/ hyperon. Methods of accounting for such a large moment are discussed. Of two possible grouptheoretic models, one predicts zero moment, and the other predicts 1/2 mu (n) assuming no mass differences between baryons. Although this value is in agreement with experi-ment, the effect of mass differences may be large. The model of the LAMBDA /sup O/ hyperon proposed by M. Goldhaber accounts for a large negative value. (M.C.G.)
