During experiments on semians, dogs, and guinea pigs evidence on diminished activity of 5-oxytryptophandecarboxylase at late stages of acute radiation sickness was found. The activity level of the enzyme was evaluated on the basis of the increased blood serotonin content on the administration of standard amounts of 5-oxytryptophan at various dates following irradiation.
