SEMI-CONTINUOUS HOT PRESSING

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4833216
Equipment and techniques used in the semi-continuous hot pressing are described. Preliminary data are presented on the effect of time and temperature on the final density of high-purity beryllia. Densitics of greater than 98% were achieved, at temperatures as low as 1100 deg C, and at time cycles as short as 11 min. The conclusion was reached that, under suitable conditions, semi-continuous hot pressing can compete both technically and economically with sintering techniques. (auth)
