THE CORROSION OF BERYLLIUM AND ALLOYS OF BERYLLIUM WITH CALCIUM IN CARBON DIOXIDE

Journal Article · · J. Nuclear Materials
The addition of Ca metal to Be in amounts greater than 0.15 wt% resulted in the development of a range of Be alloys of outstanding resistance to corrosion at 700 deg C in CO/sub 2/ gas at a pressure of 20.5 atm. The resistance to corrosion of the alloys in CO/sub 2/ increases with increasing Ca content. The addition of Ca to Be also modifies the pressure dependence of the corrosion reaction and the type of corrosion observed. (C.H.)
