THE DIFFUSION OF GOLD INTO PURE ALPHA IRON

The diffusion of Au in alpha -Fe was measured using Au/sup 195/ as the tracer. The results for the paramagnetic region are summarized by the following equation: D = 31 exp STA- 62.4 x 10/sub 3/RT!. The magnetic effect was observed. It was similar in magnitude and appearance to the results previously reported for the diffusion of Fe in alpha -Fe. (auth)
