ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES IN PLASMA IN THE REGION OF ION CYCLOTRON RESONANCE (in Russian)

Studies were made of electromagnetic waves and magnetoactive plasma at ion cyclotron resonance frequency omega approximates m OMEGA /sub 1/ = (e/sub 1/H/sub o//Mc). A frequency region sufficiently removed from the resonance frequencies omega = m OMEGA /sub 1/ (where spatial dispersion of dielectric penetrability is weak) and a region in close contact with these frequencies (where spatial dispersion is stronger) were analyzed. Expressions were derived for wave refraction and absorption coefficients. It is shown that under certain conditions the ion absorption of electromagnetic field energy near the first and second resonance frequencies can be of considerable magnitude. (tr-auth)
